Downtown Dallas is known for its beautiful skyline and corporate offices that serve as world headquarters to some of the biggest companies in the world. On the northern end of the downtown area is American Airlines Center, which serves as the home for the NHL's Dallas Stars. The Stars franchise has grown over the years to be one of the most successful teams in the National Hockey League. It doesn't hurt that the Stars get to play in a state-of-the-art building every time they step onto the ice. Though it is only ten years old, American Airlines Center still provides the familiar comfort that most fans are looking for in a hockey arena.

While it was expensive to build, American Airlines Center has definitely lived up to the billing placed upon it by architects and engineers. The Dallas Stars could not ask for a nicer building to play in than American Airlines Center. From the general aesthetics of the building to the three-tier seating of the inside bowl, the arena offers amazing value for both the team and its audience. Visitors will want to stay awhile in downtown Dallas as it offers a great deal of activities for everyone to participate in. Arriving at American Airlines Center is also quite easy, especially when you consider Dallas Area Rapid Transit provides low-fare bus rides all over the city. They will be able to take you right up to the front door of the arena where the action ultimately awaits you. If you choose to bring your own vehicle, a simple trip on I-35 provides plenty of options to access the arena. Parking is accessible as well, with over 8,000 parking spaces within walking distance of the building.  For those who hold parking passes, your car can be left right in the arena's parking lot for easy access before and after the game.

No matter which entrance is used, a beautiful, mesmerizing atrium awaits all who come to watch a Stars game. Once your reach the concourse areas, Dallas Stars memorabilia is everywhere just waiting to be purchased as a reminder of your time at American Airlines Center. The concourses not only have huge flat-screen televisions so fans can stay in touch with the game when outside the actual bowl of the arena, but there are also many different concession stands that offer some of the traditional all-time ballpark favorites that people just can't seem to get enough of at sporting events. Jack Daniels' Old No. 7 offers a great place for the traditional sports bar experience complete with plenty of televisions and liquid libations for consumption.

Seeking out the best restaurants in Dallas will also provide the opportunity to explore some of the finest cuisine that can be found in any major United States city. Right near American Airlines Center is a restaurant known for its traditional burgers and barbecue platters. Dick's Last Resort is a great place to experience the culture that the city of Dallas calls its own. With plenty of menu options for the entire family, Dick's Last Resort is a suitable venue for a post-game meal that offers fantastic customer service and a look inside the heart of Dallas. For a little more upscale cuisine, try Ocean Prime with its outstanding seafood and steakhouse offerings. Dallas is known for its steak dinners, and Ocean Prime is able to provide the perfect side of beef that will leave you more than satisfied. While you will probably pay a little bit more, the general ambiance and atmosphere of Ocean Prime is well worth the price you will pay for your meal.

There are plenty of options for dancing and drinking in downtown Dallas as well with establishments like the Lizard Lounge and Curtain Club. The Lizard Lounge is one of the trendier nightspots in the city, and it provides an opportunity mingle with locals while enjoying the nightlife in the city of Dallas. Many Dallas Stars players have been known to frequent Lizard Lounge after a game, so hockey fans might even be able to celebrate with some of the players they just finished watching live on the ice. Curtain Club/Liquid Lounge is a location that offers two unique atmospheres for you to enjoy. Curtain Club is a little bit more lively and upbeat with a more modern rock-type of vibe on display. Liquid Lounge is more laid back and quaint than Curtain Club, but it still provides great music to dance to along with some of the best bar specials in the city.

As a Texas town, the City of Dallas, steeped in history, provides some really interesting points of interest. There are so many different areas of the city to explore that you will want to come back time and time again just to be sure that you haven't missed anything. Legends of the Game Baseball Museum in Arlington is a terrific opportunity to celebrate some of the most-admired sports figures in American history. Arlington is just a stone's throw away from Dallas, so a quick bus or taxi ride will suffice in getting you to your destination. Deep Ellum is a section of Dallas that provides entertainment options for the entire family as well. Whether you are interested in jazz music or just want a good meal, Deep Ellum has many options available for visitors to take advantage of.  Also be sure to visit Dealey Plaza, which is the location where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated almost 50 years ago. You can actually stand on the very spot where President Kennedy was struck by the bullets that ultimately took his life. From the "X" in the road that marks the position of the motorcade when the bullets struck, there is a view of the book depository where Oswald was thought to have fired the shots from.  See for yourself is an assassiniation plot conspiracy seems plausible.  It is all very surreal, but the history and significance of the location cannot be argued.

The city of Dallas continues to boom, and with professional sports franchises like the Dallas Stars, it is easy to see why. American Airlines Center serves as the perfect location for anyone looking to take in a great hockey game while also enjoying the natural surroundings that the Dallas area is able to provide. Take the opportunity to visit American Airlines Center in order to see the Dallas Stars take on the competition NHL en route to another Stanley Cup.
